Be AT Your Best with Strength Training and Nutrition
Not all balls are created equal. The Duraball Pro, is my favorite and most highly recommended swiss ball. It is burst resistant and has a capacity of 1000lbs. Most swiss balls that I have found warp or change shape over time. Duraball does not do this. Really this ball will last you many years so long as you take care of it properly.
The plethora of exercises that can be done on swiss balls is too much to be listed here. But, let’s just say that you’ll use it quite a bit in your program.
Valside is another great tool for fitness. You use this tool for either hands or feet to slide into movements. There are an array of exercises that can be done with this tool. It’s inexpensive, and super easy to use.
Foam rolling is something I use with clients often. You can use them for massage style stretching or exercises. Really you can’t get a cheaper massage then using “Self-myofacial release (SMR)” Think of giving your body a massage and getting those tough knots out.
Kettle Bells are some of the best ways to perform weight training. Though mostly for advanced exercises, there are some beginner exercises that I prefer to use Kettle bells with. If you do any sport a few sets of Kettle bells is a great tool to teach your body proper coordination. Thing about it, the weight is on the bottom and the handle is on top. Most things that we cary are like this. Kettle bell has a high cary over to the many lifting, carrying, or even sporting, that we do.
Power blocks make dumbbells compact. This is a convenient and space friendly adjustable dumbbell set. Power blocks allow you to have 5lbs-50+lbs in a small 2-3 foot space. Dumbbell training is of course a great way to learn how to move your body with weight. I recommend these dumbbells because they generally require more stability and coordination with your hands. Great for people who need to strengthen their wrist muscles!
Mini-bands. This is the cheapest torture you’re going to get. these little devils are rubber bands that can be used for a number of different leg and arm exercises. My favorite thing to use these for is to help my clients turn their butt’s on. We sit on them all day, and mini-bands help us turn them back on to ready them for a work out.
TRX suspension training. Another excellent tool for a great work out. If you’re on the go, traveling, or just want to work out from home. This is an amazing tool. You can really train anywhere you are. Suspension training has been around for ages. Think gymnastic rings. TRX just made it easy to use, and portable.
Working out is one thing working out as a science is another. A heart rate monitor offers you the ability to gauge how hard you are working and how quickly you are recovering. Over all it’s a good idea to have a heart rate monitor to show you’re progress in your workouts.
Medicine balls are one of the best tools to use in outdoor or indoor training. These weights allow you to train your ballistic strength. When used properly these balls can train any performance or aesthetic goal.
